Institut Pasteur du Cambodge is involved to fight rabies in Cambodia. Our first action, started since September 2017, is to educate about the rabies disease as well as to communicate about its dangers and prevention strategies throughout the country. Cambodian people know little about the transmission and the prevention of the disease. Our second action is to increase access to rabies vaccination after bite injuries by creating two additional rabies prevention centers located in two provinces outside Phnom Penh capital city; one center in Battambang province and another center in the east of Phnom Penh (2019).
Last July, we have opened to patients, in collaboration with the Provincial Health Department of Battambang, a Rabies Prevention Center, that provides better access to vaccination after a dog bite, for the population living in North-West region of Cambodia. From now, people can come after dog’s bit from Battambang, Pailin, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Mean Chey, Siem Reap, Pursat provinces. Requested contribution is the same as in Pasteur Phnom Penh (15USD with the 3 vaccination sessions included below cost price).
27th of September 2018 was held the inauguration of the Rabies Prevention Center Battambang in the honorific presence of HE Dr OR Vandine, General Director for Health and HE Mme NEUK Sakun, Vice Governor of the Battambang Province. With many other distinguished guests such as World Bank, WHO, Battambang Hospital, Povincial Health Department, NGOs …
Institut Pasteur du Cambodge is very proud to contribute to the improvement of health for Cambodian people.
