    Abstract:

In mid-September 2017, a severe trichinellosis outbreak occurs in Prey Long, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia. Following consumption of raw wild pig meat, 33 persons get infected by the nematode and 8 among them died. The medical records of 25 patients were collected and analyzed through clinical symptoms, blood analysis, diagnosis techniques and treatment. Molecular identification ascribe the species involved to Trichinella papuae. This is the first description of a fatal outbreak of trichinellosis in Cambodia.
