Field Supervisor within the Epidemiology and Public Health Unit

The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institute Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together over 30 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has around 300 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 22 nationalities and includes 5 research units. It carries out research activities in health biology, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, vaccinations and water and food analyses) and training.
The Epidemiology and Public Health Unit of the IPC conducts operational epidemiological research studies on major public health challenges in Cambodia. Specifically, the work carried out aims to improve the understanding of the transmission of infectious and emerging diseases and to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of priority pathologies in the most vulnerable populations.
We are recruiting Field Supervisor to lead survey teams in different province in Cambodia. The recruited candidates will work as staff of the Epidemiology and Public Health Unit at the IPC.

Position Overview:
This role is essential for successful field activities. They will ensure that timelines are met, data collection are performed with high data quality, and communications between the various operational stakeholders are effective. The selected candidate will work closely with scientific, operational, and administrative teams to implement and supervise field surveys.
Recruitment conditions:
- Position: Full-time.
- Contract: The initial contract is offered for one year (renewable).
- Start Date: June 16th, 2025.
- Remote Work: Possibility to work remotely, subject to job role and management approval.

Main responsibilities:

- Involve actively in preparations of field surveys.
- Receive trainings for field works.
- Involve actively in trainings of field team members.
- Prepare field logistics.
- Prepare budget for field preparation.
- Contribute to data management and data quality assurance process.
- In the field
- Supervise and manage field survey teams.
- Manage logistics.
- Manage and ensure the quality of biological samples.
- Manage and ensure efficient expenses of field budget.
- Provide progress reports of field activities.
- Identify challenges and propose suitable solutions.
- Ensure compliance with research protocols and ethical standards.
- Arrange communication and appointments for field operations.
- Serve as point of contact with local partners and relevant authorities.
- Represent the IPC teams at relevant meetings and events in the field.
Candidate Profile:
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Project Management, Social Sciences, Management, or Administration, or a related field.
- Good experiences in field surveys, ideally related to health.
- Good experiences in supervising teams and managing field activities.
- Team spirit and ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Good English language skills.
- Good computer literacy.
- Familiar with electronic data collection and management tools and systems.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, and structured reports.
- Ability to perform budget management and financial planning for and in the field.
- Ability to work in contexts requiring frequent travel in provinces at village level, flexible working hours and community field conditions.
- Flexibility and willingness to work beyond normal hours when necessary.
- Ability to overcome field challenges (identification and troubleshooting).
- Professional integrity and strong ethical standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders.
