IPC joined the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Committee for One Health

On June 11, 2025, the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) participated in the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Committee for One Health (IMCC-OH). The IPC delegation included Pr. André Spiegel, Director of IPC; Dr. Ly Sowath, Deputy Director; Dr. Claude Flamand, Head of the Epidemiology Unit; Ms. Sokleap Cheng, Deputy Head of the Medical Biology Laboratory; and Ms. Tephanie Sieng, Post-Doctoral Social Scientist.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including H.E Dr. Youk Sambath, Secretary of State at Ministry of Health and President of the IMCC-OH, H.E. Dr. Sung Vinntak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health and Vice President of IMCC-OH; H.E. Sen Sovann, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Vice President of IMCC-OH; Professor Chou Monidarin, Deputy Director-General at the Ministry of Environment; H.E. Dr. Ly Sovann, Director of the Department of Disease Control; as well as representatives from various technical working groups.

The session provided an opportunity to present and discuss ongoing collaborative research efforts, including the One Health study on zoonotic transmission (PREACTS-AFRICAM), the integrated study to strengthen rabies prevention in Cambodia (VIRAGE), and the national study assessing community-level risks of recurrent infectious diseases in a One Health context (RACSMEI). Each  representatives of Ministries shared insights and provided input on the procedural aspects of these studies. This collaborative exchange reaffirmed the critical role of research, cross-sectoral coordination, and shared commitment in advancing One Health approaches for the benefit of public health in Cambodia.
