Visit of a delegation of European Union and the National Authority of Chemical Weapons

On March 9, the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge hosted a delegation from the European Union (EU) and the National Authority of Chemical Weapons (Ministry of Defense).

This visit, carried out at the request of the Cambodian authorities, within the framework of the EU Project 81. This 3-year EU-funded project is delivered on behalf of the European CBRN Centre of Excellence by a consortium of expertise led by Sustainable Criminal Justice Solutions Europe. The aim of the project is to provide (i) a set of recommendations for improving biosecurity management systems in South-East Asia, and (ii) effective tools to enhance capabilities to respond to highly communicable diseases or global catastrophic biological events, such as pandemics.

The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge presented the various biosafety and biosecurity measures put in place at the institute and a tour of the laboratories was carried out, in particular to our Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) Laboratory which is the only one currently in service in Cambodia.

This visit was an opportunity for discussions and interesting exchanges with the members of the delegation.
