Main Projects

AI Meets Biomedical Research: Welcome to BAIA
  • Analysis of single-cell RNA-seq data
  • Development and deployment of bioinformatics pipelines
  • Data interactive visualization
  • Enabling the use of Nanopore technologies in research and public health surveillance
  • Applications of AI to bioinformatics
BAIA Mission

BAIA interacts with many other research units at IPC, providing bioinformatics expertise through consultancy, custom development of computational pipelines, bioinformatics data analysis of different types of sequencing data and collaborative research projects. Current internal collaborations are ongoing with the Immunology, Virology, Malaria Unit and with the Medical Biology Laboratory. Furthermore, BAIA is actively pursuing the establishment of external research partnerships, and initiating independent projects, not solely reliant on IPC-collected data. For this purpose, BAIA is the promoter of the international iniative PAPIBI (Pasteur Asia-Pacific International Bioinformatics Initiative), a discussion and exchange forum, including researchers from Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, New Caledonia and South Korea.

BAIA actively participates to the IPC capacity building mission by training the unit’s specialized staff and offering institute-wide tutorials in IT and AI techniques, essential for advanced bioinformatics work. BAIA also welcomes intern students from Cambodian and international educational institutions fostering knowledge exchange and capacity building
