Presentation of the "RAMSES" and "CircUs" projects at Phnom Penh Hotel

On Wednesday 3rd May 2023, the teams affiliated to the “Resistance to AntiMicrobials: Socio-Economic and regulatory factors influencing emergence and dissemination in the South” (RAMSES), and “Circulation of multi-drug resistant Enterobacteria (MDR-E) in humans, animals and in the environment in rural, periurban and urban areas in Low- or Middle-Income Countries: a One Health approach” (CircUs) have organized a meeting at Phnom Penh Hotel (about 50 participants), to present both projects, conducted by the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge, French agricultural research and international cooperation organization (CIRAD) and the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD).

Prof. André SPIEGEL, Director of Institut Pasteur du Cambodge, made a welcoming remarks and H.E. Dr. LY Sovann, Director of Communicable Disease Control Department (CDC), has done us the honour to open the session.

The meeting was thus an exciting opportunity to discuss the challenges of AMR in Cambodia. It also provided an effective exchange among the participants, who had the pleasure to attend the presentations of Dr. Krang Sidonn from CDC on the “General situation of AMR among the Cambodian population”, Dr. CHEA Rortana from National Animal Health and Production Research Institute (NAHPRI) on the “General situation of AMR for animals in Cambodia”, Dr. Cheng Sokleaph on the activities of the CircUs project and Dr. LY Sowath on the activities of the RAMSES project.
