The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institut Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together 33 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has more than 300 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 22 nationalities and includes 5 research units. It carries out research activities in health biology, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, vaccinations and water and food analyses) and training.

 

The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge is recruiting for 2 full-time Laboratory Technicians within the Medical Biology Laboratory Unit.

Position Overview:

The Laboratory Technician will play a key role in carrying out essential laboratory operations within the Bacteriology and Antibiotic Resistance Research Group at the Medical Biology Laboratory of the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC).

 

Recruitment conditions:

  • Language: Proficiency in Khmer and English and/or French
  • Position: Full-time.
  • Contract: The initial contract is offered for 1 year (renewable).

Main responsibilities:

  • Perform serological assays.
  • Conduct molecular biology (DNA extraction, PCR-based assays).
  • Carry out microbiological analyses.
  • Apply and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) developed and used in the laboratory.
  • Participate in field missions for sample collection.
  • Assist in biobanking and sample stock management.
  • Contribute to data management and preparation of reports.
  • Perform other technical tasks as assigned by project investigators or the head of the laboratory.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technician, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Demonstrated teamwork, communication skills, and the ability to work rigorously and independently.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Basic skills in data management and computer use (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word).
