The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institute Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together 33 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has more than 300 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 10 nationalities and includes 6 research units. It carries out research activities in health biology, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, vaccinations and water and food analyses) and training.

The lnstitut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is recruiting a full-time Medical Doctor for the Phnom Penh Rabies Prevention Center based in Phnom Penh. The 12-month contract is initially offered (renewable).

Position Overview:

Medical doctor (MD) is one of the essential components of the healthcare system. At IPC, based on their medical knowledge, MDs provide accurate, compassionate, science-based information and evidence-based medical care to patients according to regulatory standards and protocols. Their role extends beyond patient care to actively contributing to the advancement of medical research initiatives. MDs play a vital part in enhancing the effectiveness of the routine functioning of IPC’s Vaccination Service Unit.

 

Recruitment conditions:

  • Language: English and/or French in addition to Khmer
  • Position: Full-time.
  • Contract: The initial contract is offered for 1 year (renewable).

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the well-functioning of the Rabies Prevention Center’s day-to-day operation according to the leadership of the head of the Vaccination service.
  • Providing Rabies PEP for animal bite victims according to IPC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Managing vaccine-related unwanted effects.
  • Providing scientific advice related to rabies PEP via phone call, email, and Facebook page
  • Maintaining the database of patient clinical information and rabies PEP prescriptions (Includes data entry and management of the data)
  • Supervising the cold chain management for vaccines and immunoglobulin storage
  • Supervising the stock inventory of the Rabies Prevention Center
  • Generating the regular weekly and monthly activity reports
  • Closely interacting with management and laboratory teams at IPC
  • Ensuring the necessary opening of the center during certain public holidays for the benefit of patients
  • Respecting the working schedule and IPC internal rules. The total weekly working time is set at 37.5 hours, under IPC regulations, with work schedules distributed over six days (Monday to Saturday).

Candidate Profile:

  • Willing to work on the rabies elimination mission
  • Fulfilled the criteria required by the Medical Council of Cambodia for medical practice.
  • Experiences in outpatient consultation and immunization practice
  • Willing to work on the rabies elimination mission
  • Newly graduated medical doctors are also encouraged to apply
  • Strong leadership and team management
  • High spirit of ethics, responsibility, and professionalism
  • Proficiency in Khmer, English and/or French
  • Good teamwork, good communication, meticulous, and autonomous
  • Computer literacy: Word, Excel, Stata, Redcap
