IPC Strengthened Genomic Surveillance Partnership with University of Melbourne
On Wednesday, 12 February 2026, Institut Pasteur du Cambodge had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Ben Howden, Prof. Timothy Stinear, and Ms Chantel Lin from the Centre for Pathogen Genomics, University of Melbourne, Australia. The visit began with a brief presentation by Prof. André Spiegel, Director of IPC, highlighting the Institute’s mission, ongoing activities, and current strategic priorities. IPC researchers, including Dr. Bertrand Guillard, Dr. Blandine Rammaert, Dr. Sokleaph Cheng, Dr. Navin Sreng, Dr. Giorgio Gonnella, Dr. Tehanie Sieng, and Dr. Praveen Rahi, participated in discussions focusing on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research and genomic surveillance activities at IPC.
The Centre for Pathogen Genomics plays a leading role in advancing pathogen genomics and strengthening AMR research and training across the Asia-Pacific region. During the meeting, both teams reviewed past collaborative efforts and reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding future partnerships, particularly in genomic surveillance and AMR research capacity building.
This visit further strengthens the collaboration between IPC and the University of Melbourne in addressing regional and global challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance.
