Historic Leadership Transition: Appointment of the First Cambodian Biologist as Head of the MBL at IPC

Today, July 6, 2026, marks the beginning of an important new chapter for the Medical Biology Laboratory (MBL) at the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge.

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sokleaph Cheng as the new Head of the MBL.

This is a highly significant and proud moment for our institution. Dr. Sokleaph Cheng’s appointment reflects IPC’s commitment to promoting high-level Cambodian scientific leaders. She becomes the first Cambodian and the second woman to lead the MBL.

Dr. Sokleaph is a pharmacist and holds both a specialized degree in medical biology and a PhD. She has dedicated nearly 16 years of service to IPC and has served as Deputy Head of the MBL for 10 years. Her rigorous scientific training, deep commitment and outstanding professional qualities are widely recognized. She is an excellent medical biologist and a rigorous scientist, deeply committed to the quality of our work, the service provided to patients and doctors, and the development of our teams.

The MBL plays a central role at IPC. Together, we will continue to strengthen the laboratory, improve the quality of our activities, serve patients and doctors, support public health, and uphold the core Pasteurian values of excellence, service and responsibility.
