On 26 May 2026, the Steering Committee Meeting of the IPC–PHD Battambang Rabies Prevention Center was held at the Battambang Provincial Health Department. The meeting aimed to review the Center’s progress, address operational challenges, and define its long-term strategic vision for the benefit of the public.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. André SPIEGEL, Director of IPC, and actively attended by committee members, including H.E. Dr. VOEURNG Bunreth, Director of Battambang Provincial Health Department; Assistant Prof. CHEA Pov, Deputy Director of Battambang PHD; Dr. HAN Oudam, Director of Battambang Provincial Hospital; Mr. Nicolas RESTANO, Financial and Administrative Director of IPC; and Dr. PENG Yiksing, Head of IPC Vaccination Center.

Since its opening in 2018, the Center has provided rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) to 104,034 animal-bite victims, demonstrating its important contribution in expanding access to life-saving rabies PEP for communities in Battambang and neighboring provinces. During the meeting, IPC and the Battambang Provincial Health Department also discussed the possibility of extending the current collaboration beyond 2027, as well as including vaccination activities to strengthen public health services for the benefit of the population of the Province.
