Strengthening AMR Surveillance Partnerships in Cambodia
Institut Pasteur du Cambodge was pleased to welcome Dr. Claudia Stange and Carolin Schweikart from TZW: DVGW-Technologiezentrum Wasser (German Water Centre) this Friday for an engaging and productive exchange visit.
TZW is part of the broader consortium behind the OH4CAM project, contributing valuable expertise to strengthen antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance and research in Cambodia.
The visit began with an introduction to IPC by Prof. Andre Spiegel, followed by a comprehensive presentation from Dr. Stange on AMR in wastewater and water systems, and the analytical approaches employed to detect and monitor it.
IPC colleagues Erik Karlsson, Navin Sreng, Sokleaph Cheng, Giorgio Gonnella, Tephanie Sieng, Mariela Saba, and Praveen Rahi took part in the discussion, presenting IPC’s ongoing AMR research and wastewater surveillance activities. The two teams explored opportunities for collaborative water microbiology research, with a particular focus on wastewater-based surveillance for AMR, zoonoses, and emerging diseases.
We look forward to building on this exchange and advancing One Health approaches to AMR in the region.
