Visit of H.E. Olivier Richard, French Ambassador to Cambodia, to the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge

On 7 May, the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) had the honour of welcoming H.E. Olivier Richard, Ambassador of France to Cambodia, accompanied by Mr Pierre Vincent, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Action (COCAC), and Ms Anh-Dao Thi Tran, Scientific and University Cooperation Attaché.

The visit began with a welcome by the Director, followed by an institutional presentation of IPC. This presentation outlined the Institute’s missions, its research, public health and training activities in Cambodia, and the support provided by France to IPC. Members of IPC’s management and scientific teams took part in this session. The visit then continued with a guided tour of three of the Institute’s units, each of which contributes significantly to IPC’s One Health approach to infectious diseases.

At the Microbiology Laboratory (MBL/BAAR), Dr Sokleaph Cheng and Dr Praveen Rahi presented ongoing activities in the field of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The delegation then visited the Virology Unit, where Janin Nouhin introduced the Unit’s work on emerging infectious diseases, followed by the Entomology Unit, where Sébastien Boyer presented the Unit’s activities, with particular emphasis on the dissemination of scientific knowledge, and guided the delegation through the insectarium.

These exchanges provided an opportunity to illustrate the multidisciplinary nature of IPC’s work and its strong commitment to a One Health approach to infectious diseases, while also highlighting the important support provided by France to the Institute
