For some, the Linux command line is just a black screen with a small text prompt. But for Bioinformaticians, it is the lifeline to a wealth of possibilities.

For this reason, the Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence Applications Unit organized this week from Monday Feb 23rd 2026 to Friday Feb 27th two courses, including a “Basic Linux Command Line Course” and a “Intermediate Linux Command Line Course”, with a total of 8 hours hands-on tutorial and exercises,

open to employees and students from all research units, as well as current guests of the institute.

The participants start learning in the basic course with simple tasks, such as moving around the file system and showing file contents. During the intense training week, in the Intermediate course, they achieve the opportunity of moving to more application-oriented topics, such as working with sequence and metadata files.
